We hope you will join us on September 28, 2018 for the second annual “Summit of Intersections” hosted by Heartly House, Inc., Mental Health Association of Frederick County, Wells House, Inc., and the Frederick County Health Department. This event is sponsored by the generosity of Precision Diagnostics, Inc., the United Way of Frederick County and  CEUs are sponsored by the Maryland Behavioral Health Administration’s Office of Workforce Development and Training.

The Office of Workforce Development and Training is authorized by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists to sponsor 6.5 continuing education programs for Category A CEU, the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to sponsor 6.5 social work continuing education programs for Category I CEU, the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists and the Maryland Association of Prevention Professionals & Advocates to sponsor 6.5 continuing education programs for CEU. Participants must attend all hours of the training and submit an evaluation to receive a certificate. The Office of Workforce Development and Training maintains full responsibility for this program

We have been collaborating with our partner agencies for this one-day conference on the intersection of adverse childhood experiences, mental health disorders, sexual abuse and substance use disorders. These topic areas are ones that separate conferences are held often to address but very few seek to bring content experts together.

The “2018 Summit of Intersections” is for behavioral health, medical, social work, educator, and allied professionals to gain knowledge about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Mental Health Disorders, Sexual Abuse (SA) and Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and how these four areas overlap and reinforce one another. Once an understanding of how ACEs affects one’s life-long lived experience is achieved, participants can reflect on the impact this has on MHD, SA and SUD — and how MDH, SA and SUD contribute to the next generation of ACEs. With a holistic understanding in place, registrants can then begin collaborating on action steps that medical, behavioral health, educational, governmental, business, religious, and allied institutions could take to affect this cycle in a positive manner.
